How we pick

Bunk Ledger is edited as a desk publication. We read manufacturer specifications, manuals, and public product pages, then we write down the figures that are actually printed. A guide is not a road test. If a sentence does not say we measured it, we did not measure it.

That methodology lives on this page so it does not have to be repeated under every heading.

What gets a guide

A product gets space when a driver can make a worse choice by ignoring a physical constraint: the floor it occupies, the fuse it shares, the bunk it has to drop into, the company rule about drilling. "Best" in a headline means best fit for the job the page describes. The page says who should skip it.

Top picks on the homepage are the guides we would hand someone first. They are not scores, awards, or a claim that we slept on the mattress.

What counts as a number

We print a figure when we can point at a maker sheet, a manual, or a listing that is clearly repeating one. Inch conversions from millimeters use 25.4 mm to the inch and are labeled as conversions.

Where two listings disagree, the note says so. Where we are not confident, the line says to check the current listing. We do not split the difference and pretend the average is a spec.

Calculators use the formulas printed on the tool page. A preset such as the Dometic lab average is labeled with the lab conditions. It is not a measurement from a parked truck in July.

What we will not invent

We do not invent reviews, star ratings, prices, or quotes from drivers. We do not publish hands-on claims, cooling-gel results, or brew times we did not time. A listing's own claim stays attributed to the listing.

We do not give medical, legal, tax, or money advice. We do not tell you how to modify a radio, how to get around a company equipment rule, or how to idle where idling is restricted. Manuals, carrier policy, and the sticker on the product outrank this site.

Photographs are downloaded into this project from Wikimedia Commons under CC0, CC BY, or public-domain terms. A credit appears beside a photo when the licence asks for one. The square picture on a product box is a category photo, not the item for sale, until a real product image is added through that pick's image field. We do not paste Amazon listing photos.
